The National Defense Act will legalize martial law. The military will be authorized to pick up and indefinitely detain citizens without due process of law. Ron Paul who is against this bill, calls it the "Repeal of the 5th Amendment", adding... now ”Everybody in this country is a potential terrorist and the words they use in there to bring everybody in as a potential terrorist is any associated forces, which means if you happen to visit a website, happen to attend a meeting, happen to do one association you can be accused of being a terrorist and the bill says you have no right to a lawyer." According to Dr. Paul, "We have now institutionalized and codified martial law”.

Here is more from Wired Magazine, which says; "despite the Sixth Amendment’s guarantee of a right to trial, the Senate bill would let the government lock up any citizen it swears is a terrorist, without the burden of proving its case to an independent judge, and for the lifespan of an amorphous war that conceivably will never end. And because the Senate is using the bill that authorizes funding for the military as its vehicle for this dramatic constitutional claim, it’s pretty likely to pass."

Combine the National Defense Authorization Act with SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act -- a bill with the power to fundamentally reshape the laws governing the Internet. SOPA would imbue the federal government with broad powers to shut down whole web domains on the basis that it believes them to be associated with piracy -- without a trial or even a traditional hearing.
These two Bills now assume guilt before due process of law. These are serious threats against our liberties and fundamental Constitutional rights.
