Posse at Bryn Mawr

Each year, Bryn Mawr College selects 10 Posse scholars from two cities: 波士顿 and 休斯顿.

波士顿 has been a partner city since 2000. In 2012, Bryn Mawr became the first women's institution to recruit a STEM Posse, bringing 10 波士顿-area students intending to major in STEM fields as a cohort to the College annually.

We have been welcoming 休斯顿 Posse cohorts since 2012.

Posse Foundation is a national initiative with chapters in Atlanta, 海湾地区, 波士顿, 芝加哥, 休斯顿, 洛杉矶, 迈阿密, 新奥尔良, New York City and Washington, D.C.

Posse has identified, recruited and trained 6,264 public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential to become Posse Scholars. 自1989年以来, these students — many of whom might have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes — have been receiving four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner institutions of higher education. Most important, Posse Scholars persist and graduate at a rate of 90 percent and make a visible difference on campus and throughout their professional careers.

的 concept of a Posse works for both students and college campuses, and is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students — a Posse — carefully selected and trained, can serve as a catalyst for increased individual and community development. As the United States becomes an increasingly multicultural society, Posse believes that the leaders of this new century should reflect the country’s rich demographic mix, and that the key to a promising future for our nation rests on the ability of strong leaders from diverse backgrounds to develop consensus solutions to complex social problems. One of the primary aims of the Posse Program is to train these leaders of tomorrow.

的 following faculty and staff members currently serve as Posse mentors:

  • Class of 2022: Rachel Heiser (休斯顿) and Jennifer Spohrer (波士顿)
  • Class of 2023: Nate Wright (休斯顿) and Anjali Thapar (波士顿)
  • Class of 2024: Agnes Peysson-Zeiss (休斯顿) and Tamara Davis (波士顿)
  • Class of 2025: Dee Matthews (休斯顿) and Amy Myers (波士顿)
