Solyndra Applied for Second Loan

You probably know that Solyndra, a manufacturer of solar panels, declared bankruptcy after having received a $535 million loan guarantee by the Obama administration. What you may not know is that Solyndra had also applied for a second loan valued at $469 million.

The Pentagon has worried for months that a project backed by a prominent Democratic donor might interfere with military GPS.  General William Shelton said he was told to alter his testimony before the House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Strategic Forces regarding an Obama White House attempt to award a defense contract to the Lightsquared firm.  Lightsquared is a high-tech company doing business in Virginia that's owned by billionaire Philip Falcone, an Obama friend and campaign contributor.

1 . Never Drive a Vehicle in LA Without a License-- Unless You’re here Illegally

In Los Angeles, only US citizens and legal residents will have their cars impounded if they are stopped and are found to be unlicensed drivers. Illegal immigrants will be spared. The reasoning behind this decision by LAPD Chief Charlie Beck is that since illegal immigrants can’t get a drivers license, it isn’t fair to penalize them more than legal residents.

More Bailouts from the Federal Reserve—Dollars to go to Europe

Five major central banks including the US Federal Reserve are pumping dollars into the European banking system. They say these funds are needed because private US lenders are withholding lending because of the European debt crisis.

"This is basically to address the willingness of American banks to fund European banks," Mr. Valli said. "It looks like American banks do not have full trust to lend dollars to European banks, this is a by product of the sovereign debt crisis." Mr. Valli is an economist at UniCredit in Milan

A couple of things hit me in the news this morning.

1. Rick Perry to Undergo Colonoscopy.

It appears that the news media’s colonoscopy of Governor Rick Perry of Texas is underway. The AP is reporting that Perry and his wife earned just over $2 million in wages. Gee, that’s a lot of money! We all know that earning money is not looked favorably upon by many in our society today.

FBI searches offices of Solyndra; lawmakers say they were misled about firm’s finances

FBI agents executed a surprise search Thursday of a Silicon Valley solar company that collapsed last week, in an investigation that appeared to center on half a billion dollars in federal loan guarantees granted to the company by the Obama administration.
